AI-suggested
Upgrade MongoDB Database Tools to version 100.20.1 or later where this issue is fixed. Until then, ensure that only trusted operators perform restore operations and avoid restoring from untrusted dump directories. No other vendor advisory mitigation instructions are provided.
Description
CVE-2026-119674 is a vulnerability in MongoDB Database Tools mongorestore where the tool incorrectly URL-decodes collection names when dump filenames are truncated. This can cause documents to be restored into unintended collections, potentially overwriting data or omitting backed-up documents. The issue affects versions from 100.0.2 up to but not including 100.20.1 and requires operator involvement to exploit during a directory restore with write access.
