AI-suggested
Users should upgrade to a version later than 4.0.5 where this issue is presumably fixed, as versions from 3.2.5 through 4.0.5 are vulnerable. Since no explicit patch links or vendor advisory are provided, verify the fix status with the vendor or update to the latest extension version beyond 4.0.5. Avoid visiting untrusted websites that may issue Basic auth challenges until patched.
Description
The Private Internet Access (PIA) Firefox extension has an authentication vulnerability due to an unguarded onAuthRequired handler. This flaw allows leakage of PIA proxy credentials when a user visits a malicious website that issues a Basic authentication challenge. Although fixed in version 3.2.5, the vulnerability was reintroduced in later versions up to 4.0.5.
