Until a fix is available, restrict local user access to systems running TorchServe to trusted users only. Monitor official PyTorch channels for updates and apply patches promptly once released.
Description
CVE-2026-123974 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in all versions of PyTorch's TorchServe. It arises from the creation of a temporary extraction directory in /tmp with insecure, predictable permissions. This allows a local user to swap the model handler and execute code with the privileges of the TorchServe service account.
