AI-suggested

Upgrade OpenEMR to version 8.3.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other vendor advisories indicate alternative mitigations or temporary fixes. Applying the official patch is the recommended remediation.

Description

OpenEMR versions prior to 8.3.0 have a path traversal vulnerability in the interface/billing/sl_eob_process.php component. This flaw allows authenticated users to write and read files by supplying unsanitized 'eraname' values. Attackers without billing privileges can exploit this to inject directory traversal sequences (../) to create ERA report .html files in arbitrary writable locations and parse arbitrary .edi files echoed into the report.
