AI-suggested

Upgrade OpenEMR to version 8.4.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

OpenEMR versions prior to 8.4.0 contain a local file inclusion vulnerability in the ESign router due to improper sanitization of the module parameter. Authenticated attackers can upload a malicious PHP file named Controller.php via the fax module's upload functionality and then exploit a path traversal in the ESign router to execute arbitrary code. This vulnerability is fixed in version 8.4.0.
