AI-suggested

A fix is available in OpenEMR version 8.3.0. Users should upgrade to version 8.3.0 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.

Description

OpenEMR versions prior to 8.3.0 have a broken object-level authorization vulnerability in the SOAP note update API. Authenticated users with encounters/notes permission can overwrite clinical notes belonging to other patients by supplying a SOAP note ID (sid) that does not belong to the specified patient and encounter. This allows unauthorized modification and reassignment of clinical notes.
