Technical Analysis

The WP Travel plugin for WordPress versions prior to 12.0.2 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639). The plugin fails to verify that the requester owns the booking targeted by the bank-deposit slip submission feature. As a result, an unauthenticated attacker who knows the target customer's email address can manipulate the booking's payment status and attach arbitrary files to the booking record.

Potential Impact

An attacker can alter the payment state of bookings belonging to other users and attach files to those bookings without authentication. This could lead to unauthorized modification of booking data and potential misuse of the booking system's payment workflow.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch information is currently available. Until a fix is released, restrict access to the affected functionality and monitor for suspicious activity related to booking modifications.
