Technical Analysis

The SEO Redirection Plugin for WordPress prior to version 9.19 contains an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284). Specifically, one authenticated AJAX action does not verify user capabilities, enabling any logged-in user to access sensitive configuration data related to 301 redirects. This could disclose internal URL mappings that are intended to be restricted to higher-privileged users.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any authenticated user account can enumerate the site's 301 redirect rules, revealing potentially sensitive URL mappings. This information disclosure could aid in further reconnaissance or targeted attacks but does not directly allow modification or denial of service.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict user roles that can authenticate or monitor for unauthorized access to the AJAX action if possible.
