Vendor/Project: AWS
Product: Amplify Codegen UI

Description

CVE-2026-18245 is a critical code injection vulnerability in AWS Amplify Codegen UI versions before 2.20.6. It allows a remote authenticated user to execute arbitrary code in various contexts including end-user browsers, developer machines, CI/CD pipelines, and server-side rendering environments by exploiting insufficient input validation of Studio component or theme schema values. The issue arises from improper control of code generation despite previous mitigations for a related vulnerability (CVE-2025-4318).

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-18245) in Amazon @aws-amplify/codegen-ui-react prior to version 2.20.6 involves improper control of code generation (CWE-94), enabling remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code across multiple environments. The root cause is insufficient input validation of crafted Studio component or theme schema values, which bypasses protections introduced for a previous vulnerability. The flaw affects client-side and server-side contexts, posing a high risk of code injection. AWS manages this as a cloud service and has released version 2.20.6 to remediate the issue.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code in end-user browsers, developer machines, CI/CD environments, and server-side rendering contexts. This can lead to full compromise of affected environments, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 9.0 (critical), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, required privileges, user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

AWS manages remediation for this cloud-hosted service and has released version 2.20.6 of @aws-amplify/codegen-ui-react to address this vulnerability. Users should upgrade to version 2.20.6 or later to remediate the issue.
