Published: 03/05/2026 (03/05/2026, 16:27:30 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Eclipse Foundation
Product: Eclipse OpenMQ

Description

An unsafe parsing of OpenMQ's configuration in OpenMQ versions <6.5.2 and <6.9.0, allows a remote attacker to read arbitrary files from a MQ Broker's server. A full exploitation could read unauthorized files of the OpenMQ’s host OS. In some scenarios RCE could be achieved. This is fixed in OpenMQ 6.5.2, 6.9.0, and in GlassFish 7.0.26, 7.1.1, and 8.0.2.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability arises from improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory (CWE-22) in Eclipse OpenMQ's configuration parsing. Versions before 6.5.2 and 6.9.0 allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the host operating system of the MQ Broker. The vulnerability can potentially escalate to remote code execution in certain scenarios. Official fixes have been released in OpenMQ 6.5.2, 6.9.0, and GlassFish 7.0.26, 7.1.1, and 8.0.2.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation enables an unauthenticated remote attacker to read unauthorized files on the MQ Broker's host system, potentially exposing sensitive information. Additionally, some exploitation scenarios may allow remote code execution, leading to full compromise of the affected system. The CVSS v3.1 score is 9.1, indicating critical severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, high confidentiality impact, no integrity impact, and high availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in Eclipse OpenMQ versions 6.5.2 and 6.9.0, and in GlassFish versions 7.0.26, 7.1.1, and 8.0.2. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the issue. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory.
