VulnerabilityCVE-2026-34938cvecve-2026-34938cwe-693
Published: Fri Apr 03 2026 (04/03/2026, 22:51:28 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: MervinPraison
Product: PraisonAI

Description

PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams system. Prior to version 1.5.90, execute_code() in praisonai-agents runs attacker-controlled Python inside a three-layer sandbox that can be fully bypassed by passing a str subclass with an overridden startswith() method to the _safe_getattr wrapper, achieving arbitrary OS command execution on the host. This issue has been patched in version 1.5.90.

Technical Analysis

PraisonAI versions before 1.5.90 contain a protection mechanism failure (CWE-693) in the execute_code() function of praisonai-agents. The sandbox designed to restrict attacker-controlled Python code can be fully bypassed by passing a str subclass that overrides the startswith() method to the _safe_getattr wrapper. This bypass leads to arbitrary OS command execution on the host. The vulnerability is fixed in version 1.5.90. No vendor advisory or patch link is provided, but the fix version is clearly stated.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the host running PraisonAI, resulting in complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without privileges or user interaction, making it highly severe.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade PraisonAI to version 1.5.90 or later, where this vulnerability is patched. Since no official patch link or advisory is provided, users should verify the version and update accordingly. Patch status is confirmed by the version information in the description. No alternative mitigations are specified.
