VulnerabilityCVE-2026-39374cvecve-2026-39374cwe-639
Published: Tue Apr 07 2026 (04/07/2026, 19:37:31 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: makeplane
Product: plane

Description

Plane is an an open-source project management tool. Prior to 1.3.0, the IssueBulkUpdateDateEndpoint allows a project member (ADMIN or MEMBER) to modify the start_date and target_date of ANY issue across the entire Plane instance, regardless of workspace or project membership. The endpoint fetches issues by ID without filtering by workspace or project, enabling cross-boundary data modification. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.3.0.

Technical Analysis

Plane versions before 1.3.0 contain an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639) in the IssueBulkUpdateDateEndpoint. This endpoint permits project members (ADMIN or MEMBER) to update date fields of any issue in the Plane instance without verifying workspace or project membership. The lack of proper filtering by workspace or project allows unauthorized modification of issues outside the user's authorized scope. This issue is resolved in version 1.3.0 of Plane.

Potential Impact

An attacker with project member privileges can modify the start_date and target_date fields of any issue in the Plane instance, including those outside their authorized workspaces or projects. This can lead to unauthorized data manipulation affecting project timelines and potentially disrupting project management processes. There is no indication of confidentiality or availability impact, only integrity is affected.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Plane to version 1.3.0 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability is fixed. Since the vulnerability is resolved in this version, applying the official fix is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
