VulnerabilityCVE-2026-41890cvecve-2026-41890cwe-20
Published: 05/07/2026 (05/07/2026, 03:23:31 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: ci4-cms-erp
Product: ci4ms

Description

CI4MS versions from 0.31.1.0 up to but not including 0.31.8.0 contain an improper input validation vulnerability in the deleteProcess() action. This action accepts a POST parameter tables[] with arbitrary table names, which are passed directly to the database dropTable() function without verifying that these tables belong to the theme being deleted. An authenticated administrator can exploit this to drop any table in the database. The issue was patched in version 0.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in ci4ms (a CodeIgniter 4-based CMS skeleton) arises from insufficient validation of input in the deleteProcess() action. Specifically, the POST parameter tables[] is used to specify database tables to drop. While the deleteConfirm view correctly limits tables[] to those associated with the theme's migration files, the server-side deleteProcess() function does not verify that the submitted table names belong to the theme. This allows an authenticated admin to craft requests that drop arbitrary tables in the database. The vulnerability affects versions >= 0.31.1.0 and < 0.31.8.0 and has been fixed in version 0.31.8.0.

Potential Impact

An authenticated administrator can exploit this vulnerability to drop any table in the database, potentially causing data loss or service disruption. The vulnerability does not allow privilege escalation or remote unauthenticated exploitation but can lead to significant impact due to arbitrary table deletion by a privileged user.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade ci4ms to version 0.31.8.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched. No other mitigations are indicated or required as the fix is available in the official release.
