AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 6.12.75, 6.18, and 6.18.16. Users and administrators should upgrade to these or later kernel versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's APEI/GHES ARM processor error handling was fixed to prevent accessing memory beyond allocated bounds. The flaw occurred when the BIOS generated very small or incomplete ARM Processor Error records, causing the kernel to dereference invalid memory leading to kernel OOPS errors. The fix adds checks to avoid dereferencing out-of-bounds section_length and context_info size fields, preventing crashes during error processing.
