Technical Analysis

Frappe HRMS before version 16.5.0 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) that permits authenticated employees to view leave details of other employees without proper permission checks. This vulnerability leads to unauthorized information disclosure. The issue is resolved in version 16.5.0.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized read access to sensitive employee leave information, potentially exposing private data within an organization. There is no indication of impact on data integrity or system availability. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Frappe HRMS to version 16.5.0 or later, where the authorization checks have been corrected. Since this is an open-source product and not a cloud service, applying the official patch by updating the software is required. Patch status is confirmed fixed in version 16.5.0.
