Published: Thu May 28 2026 (05/28/2026, 20:41:45 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Kovah
Product: LinkAce

Description

CVE-2026-45344 is a high-severity vulnerability in Kovah LinkAce versions prior to 2. 5. 6. During the setup database configuration on uninitialized instances, attacker-controlled database credential fields are written into the . env file without proper escaping. This allows a remote attacker who can access the setup endpoints and supply a malicious database configuration to inject mail configuration variables, potentially leading to command execution when the application sends mail. The vulnerability is fixed in version 2. 5. 6.

Technical Analysis

LinkAce before version 2.5.6 improperly neutralizes special elements in output during the setup database configuration flow. Specifically, it accepts attacker-controlled database credential fields and writes them into the .env configuration file without escaping. This improper neutralization (CWE-74) enables injection of mail configuration variables by a remote attacker who can reach the setup endpoints and supply a database they control. This injection can lead to command execution when the application later sends mail. The issue is resolved in LinkAce 2.5.6.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows a remote attacker with access to the setup endpoints to inject malicious mail configuration variables, resulting in command execution on the host when the application sends mail. This can lead to full compromise of the affected system, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as indicated by the CVSS score of 8.1 (high).

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade LinkAce to version 2.5.6 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since the vulnerability exists only in versions prior to 2.5.6, applying this official fix fully mitigates the issue. There is no indication that temporary or alternative mitigations are available or recommended.
