AI-suggested

An official fix is available and has been released by Red Hat as part of a kernel update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4. Users should apply the security update (RHSA-2026:36767) and reboot their systems to ensure the patch takes effect. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official update.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's GFS2 filesystem was identified and resolved. The flaw occurs in the iomap inline data write path where a data buffer is prematurely released while still being referenced, leading to a write to freed memory. This can cause system instability or denial of service. The issue affects Linux kernel version 9.4. A patch has been released by Red Hat to fix this vulnerability.
