Description
CVE-2026-53230 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mlx5 driver. It involves a slab-out-of-bounds memory access in the mlx5_query_nic_vport_mac_list function when querying a virtual function (VF) vport with a larger configured maximum list size than expected. This can cause a buffer overflow due to incorrect sizing of the firmware command buffer. The issue has been fixed by adjusting the buffer sizing to use the vport's own HCA capabilities and refactoring the function to internally allocate and return the MAC list.
