Published: 08/25/2026 (08/25/2026, 15:14:07 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: MervinPraison
Product: PraisonAI

Description

PraisonAI versions prior to 4.6.58 have a missing authentication vulnerability in the Jobs API create_app function. The API endpoint /api/v1/runs is accessible without authentication, allowing any caller to submit jobs, read results, cancel runs, or delete jobs using operator credentials. This issue is fixed in version 4.6.58 by adding middleware that enforces API key authorization.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-55539 describes a missing authentication vulnerability (CWE-306) in MervinPraison's PraisonAI multi-agent teams system. Before version 4.6.58, the Jobs API's create_app function mounts the /api/v1/runs endpoint without requiring authentication. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to perform critical functions such as submitting jobs, reading results, canceling runs, or deleting jobs with operator-level privileges. The vulnerability is resolved by introducing PRAISONAI_JOBS_API_KEY middleware that requires an Authorization or X-API-Key header for access.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can remotely access the Jobs API to perform sensitive operations with operator credentials, including job submission, result reading, run cancellation, and job deletion. This can lead to unauthorized data access and disruption of job processing, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in PraisonAI version 4.6.58 by adding API key-based authentication middleware. Users should upgrade to version 4.6.58 or later to remediate this issue. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
