CVE-2026-57118: CWE-306: Missing Authentication for Critical Function in MervinPraison PraisonAI
Description
CVE-2026-57118 is a critical vulnerability in MervinPraison PraisonAI prior to version 1.6.59. It involves missing authentication checks on key API endpoints that allow unauthenticated remote clients to list agents, invoke agent chat functions, and trigger agent tools or workflows. This can lead to unauthorized enumeration of agents, consumption of model resources, exposure of private context, and unintended side effects. The issue is fixed in version 1.6.59.

Technical Analysis
PraisonAI, a multi-agent teams system by MervinPraison, had a missing authentication vulnerability (CWE-306) in versions before 1.6.59. Specifically, the AgentTeam.launch and Agents alias register endpoints (GET /{path}/list, POST /{path}, POST /{path}/{agent_id}) did not enforce access control, allowing unauthenticated remote clients to enumerate agents, access private context, and invoke agent chat or tools. This flaw could be exploited remotely without privileges, leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability is addressed in praisonaiagents version 1.6.59.
Potential Impact
Unauthenticated remote attackers can enumerate agents, consume model resources, access connected private context, and trigger agent tools or workflows, resulting in full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The CVSS v3.1 score is 9.8 (critical), reflecting the ease of exploitation and severe impact.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade PraisonAI to version 1.6.59 or later, where the missing authentication checks have been implemented to restrict access to critical API endpoints. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
