Technical Analysis

Frappe HRMS versions before 15.60.3 and versions 16.0.0 through 16.7.0 contain a SQL injection vulnerability in the Salary Payments via ECS report. The report constructs SQL query conditions using unsafe string interpolation of user-supplied filter values. An authenticated HR user can exploit this flaw by supplying crafted filter inputs, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive database records. The vulnerability is addressed by fixes in versions 15.60.3 and 16.7.1.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated HR user to access sensitive database records by injecting SQL commands through report filter values. The vulnerability does not affect integrity or availability but compromises confidentiality of data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade affected Frappe HRMS installations to version 15.60.3 or later, or to version 16.7.1 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is specified or required.
