CVE-2026-57269: CWE-129 Improper validation of array index in GeoVision Inc. GeoWebPlayer
GeoWebPlayer (also called "Web Plugin" in the GV-VMS documentation and "WS Player" for VMS-Cloud) is an addon that can be installed with various GeoVision software (GV-VMS, GV-Cloud, ...). It creates a websocket server that expands the capabilities of the various web-interfaces provided by the GeoVision software and may be necessary for them to function properly. The Websocket server can accept various commands coming from localhost. Many of the commands will take an `index` value that is then used to access various arrays to enter critical sections, perform various actions via function calls, etc. However the `index` value is usually not checked for valid range, and as such it can be used to access multiple arrays out-of-bound. #### disconnect command index-out-of-bound
AI Analysis
Technical Summary
GeoWebPlayer (also known as Web Plugin or WS Player) is an addon for GeoVision software that provides a WebSocket server to extend web interface capabilities. The server accepts commands from localhost that include an 'index' parameter used to access arrays. Due to lack of proper bounds checking on this index, attackers can cause out-of-bounds array access, potentially leading to memory corruption or other critical failures. The vulnerability is identified as CWE-129 (Improper Validation of Array Index) and affects version 1.1.1.0 of GeoWebPlayer. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.3, indicating high severity with network attack vector, high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and requiring user interaction with high attack complexity.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to unauthorized memory access, potentially allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code, cause denial of service, or compromise sensitive data. The vulnerability affects confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. However, exploitation requires local access (commands accepted from localhost) and user interaction, with a high attack complexity.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict access to the localhost interface where the WebSocket server listens to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from GeoVision Inc. regarding patches or mitigations.
