CVE-2026-57270: CWE-129 Improper validation of array index in GeoVision Inc. GeoWebPlayer
GeoWebPlayer (also called "Web Plugin" in the GV-VMS documentation and "WS Player" for VMS-Cloud) is an addon that can be installed with various GeoVision software (GV-VMS, GV-Cloud, ...). It creates a websocket server that expands the capabilities of the various web-interfaces provided by the GeoVision software and may be necessary for them to function properly. The Websocket server can accept various commands coming from localhost. Many of the commands will take an `index` value that is then used to access various arrays to enter critical sections, perform various actions via function calls, etc. However the `index` value is usually not checked for valid range, and as such it can be used to access multiple arrays out-of-bound. #### play command index-out-of-bound
AI Analysis
Technical Summary
GeoWebPlayer, an addon for GeoVision software, runs a Websocket server that processes commands from localhost. Many commands use an 'index' parameter to access internal arrays without proper bounds checking, resulting in out-of-bounds array access (CWE-129). This flaw can lead to critical impacts on the system's confidentiality, integrity, and availability, as indicated by the CVSS 3.1 score of 8.3 (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H). The affected version explicitly identified is V1.1.1.0. There is no vendor advisory or patch available at this time, and no known exploits have been reported in the wild.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker with local access to send crafted commands to the Websocket server, causing out-of-bounds array access. This may lead to unauthorized code execution, data corruption, or denial of service, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system components.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the localhost interface hosting the Websocket server to trusted users only. Monitor for vendor updates regarding patches or mitigations.
