CVE-2026-57272: CWE-129 Improper validation of array index in GeoVision Inc. GeoWebPlayer
GeoWebPlayer (also called "Web Plugin" in the GV-VMS documentation and "WS Player" for VMS-Cloud) is an addon that can be installed with various GeoVision software (GV-VMS, GV-Cloud, ...). It creates a websocket server that expands the capabilities of the various web-interfaces provided by the GeoVision software and may be necessary for them to function properly. The Websocket server can accept various commands coming from localhost. Many of the commands will take an `index` value that is then used to access various arrays to enter critical sections, perform various actions via function calls, etc. However the `index` value is usually not checked for valid range, and as such it can be used to access multiple arrays out-of-bound. #### byPass command index-out-of-bound

Technical Summary
GeoWebPlayer (also known as Web Plugin or WS Player) is an addon for GeoVision software that provides a websocket server accepting commands from localhost. Many commands use an index parameter to access arrays, but the index is not properly validated for range, leading to out-of-bounds array access (CWE-129). This can cause unauthorized access to critical sections and function calls, potentially impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability affects version 1.1.1.0 specifically. No patch or official remediation level has been published as of now.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to out-of-bounds array access, which may allow an attacker to execute unauthorized code paths or manipulate critical functions within the GeoWebPlayer process. This can result in a complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The attack requires local access (localhost) and user interaction, and has a high attack complexity.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict access to localhost interfaces of GeoWebPlayer to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious local activity. Avoid running GeoWebPlayer on untrusted hosts or environments where local users may be untrusted.
