CVE-2026-57272: CWE-129 Improper validation of array index in GeoVision Inc. GeoWebPlayer
GeoWebPlayer (also called "Web Plugin" in the GV-VMS documentation and "WS Player" for VMS-Cloud) is an addon that can be installed with various GeoVision software (GV-VMS, GV-Cloud, ...). It creates a websocket server that expands the capabilities of the various web-interfaces provided by the GeoVision software and may be necessary for them to function properly. The Websocket server can accept various commands coming from localhost. Many of the commands will take an `index` value that is then used to access various arrays to enter critical sections, perform various actions via function calls, etc. However the `index` value is usually not checked for valid range, and as such it can be used to access multiple arrays out-of-bound. #### byPass command index-out-of-bound
AI Analysis
Technical Summary
GeoWebPlayer (also known as Web Plugin or WS Player) is an addon for GeoVision software that provides a websocket server accepting commands from localhost. Many commands use an index parameter to access internal arrays, but this index is not properly validated for bounds. This improper validation (CWE-129) allows out-of-bounds array access, which can lead to critical section entry and execution of various functions with potentially elevated impact. The vulnerability affects version 1.1.1.0 of GeoWebPlayer. No patch or official remediation has been published as of now.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to high impact including confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise due to out-of-bounds array access and execution of unintended code paths. The CVSS score of 8.3 reflects the potential for remote network exploitation without privileges but requiring user interaction, with high impact on system security.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the localhost websocket server component and limit exposure to untrusted users. Monitor vendor communications for updates on patches or mitigations.
