AI-suggested

A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later in the 5.15.0 series. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official updates.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USBTMC driver allows out-of-bounds reads or stale data consumption due to insufficient validation of interrupt-IN notification message lengths. This occurs when the driver accesses two-byte headers in notification messages without verifying that the actual data length is sufficient. The issue has been fixed by adding checks on the URB actual_length before processing the headers, resubmitting the URB if data is insufficient.
