What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to properly check the dma.enabled flag before releasing DMA channels on late probe errors, preventing dereferencing of error pointers. Users should update to the fixed Linux kernel version containing this patch. Patch status is not explicitly stated; check the official Linux kernel advisory or source repository for the exact fixed version and apply updates accordingly.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's spi: sprd driver could lead to a null pointer dereference after a DMA setup failure during probe. The driver attempts to fall back to PIO mode if DMA setup fails, but improper checking of the dma.enabled flag before releasing DMA channels on late probe errors can cause dereferencing of an error pointer or double release of a channel. This issue has been resolved in the Linux kernel.
