What to do
AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to clear DMA channel pointers on setup failure, preventing error pointer dereference. Users should update to the fixed Linux kernel version containing this patch. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; check the official Linux kernel advisories or vendor updates for the exact fixed versions and apply updates accordingly.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's spi qup driver could lead to a null pointer dereference after a DMA setup failure. The driver attempts to fall back to PIO mode if DMA setup fails, but does not clear DMA channel pointers properly, which may cause dereferencing of error pointers or double release of channels during later probe errors or driver unbind. This issue has been resolved in the Linux kernel.
