A patch fixing this vulnerability is available and included in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
CVE-2026-64283 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM guest_memfd subsystem where the offset and size used in memslot binding are incorrectly treated as signed values. This can cause an integer overflow in the sum of offset and size, leading to improper validation against the file size and allowing an invalid offset to be accepted. The issue arises because offset is unchecked until the sum is compared, and a large offset plus size can wrap to a negative signed value, bypassing overflow checks. The flaw affects 64-bit kernels and was fixed in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0 and later.
