A fix is available in Linux kernel versions 6.1.34 and 6.3.8. Users should update to these or later versions to remediate the vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA gus driver was fixed by adding a NULL check after snd_ctl_new1() to prevent a NULL pointer dereference. The function snd_ctl_new1() can return NULL on memory allocation failure, and the snd_gf1_pcm_volume_control() function did not check this return value before dereferencing, which could lead to a kernel NULL pointer dereference.
