What to do
AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue by ensuring the runtime PM reference is dropped on failure. Users should update to the fixed kernel version once available. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ti-ads1119 ADC driver causes a power management (PM) reference leak when the buffer preenable function fails. Specifically, if an I2C write operation fails during device resume, the runtime PM usage counter is not decremented, potentially leaving the device runtime-active indefinitely.
