What to do
AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to enable IBPB flush on BPF JIT allocation when Spectre-v2 mitigations are in use. Systems using BPF JIT should update to the patched kernel version containing this fix. No additional mitigation is required if BPF JIT is disabled or if the BPF dispatcher uses a retpoline sequence.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the x86 architecture has been addressed by enabling an IBPB flush on BPF JIT memory reuse. This change hardens the kernel against JIT spraying attacks when Spectre-v2 mitigations are active. The mitigation applies only when BPF JIT is enabled and is guarded by the CONFIG_BPF_JIT configuration option.
