What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to validate the addition and prevent the underflow condition, returning an error on failure. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix once available. No other mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's asymmetric_keys crypto subsystem allows an out-of-bounds (OOB) read due to an integer underflow in the pefile_digest_pe_contents function. This occurs when a crafted PE file causes an addition to exceed the length of the data, leading to an underflow and subsequent OOB read. The flaw can cause kernel panic due to accessing unmapped memory during cryptographic hash computation.
