Users should consider discontinuing use of the affected version or migrating to alternative solutions. Since no remediation is provided, mitigating this risk requires operational controls such as disabling account self-activation or implementing additional verification mechanisms outside of the vulnerable token generation process.
Description
ATutor version 2.2.4 contains a vulnerability where predictable email confirmation tokens are generated due to insufficient randomness in the account confirmation process. This flaw allows an attacker who can predict or know certain registration-related values to guess valid account activation tokens and activate unconfirmed accounts without access to the victim's email. The product is no longer actively supported, and no fixes have been issued for this vulnerability.
