Published: 07/24/2026 (07/24/2026, 15:57:26 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: nuxsmin
Product: sysPass

Description

sysPass through version 3.2.11 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability that allows any authenticated attacker to access account file attachments belonging to accounts they do not have ACL permissions for by exploiting missing authorization checks in AccountFileController. Attackers can supply arbitrary numeric file IDs through the download, view, delete, upload, and list actions to enumerate and manipulate any attachment in the vault, bypassing account-level access controls entirely.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-65708 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in sysPass through version 3.2.11. The flaw exists in the AccountFileController where authorization checks are missing, allowing any authenticated attacker with low privileges to supply arbitrary numeric file IDs to access or manipulate attachments from accounts without proper ACL permissions. This insecure direct object reference vulnerability enables attackers to enumerate and perform actions on any vault attachment, bypassing account-level access controls entirely. The CVSS 4.0 score is 8.6 (high severity), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity.

Potential Impact

An authenticated attacker with low privileges can bypass account-level access controls to access, enumerate, and manipulate file attachments belonging to other accounts. This compromises confidentiality and integrity of sensitive stored data within the sysPass vault. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 3.2.11.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to sysPass to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to file attachment access. Avoid exposing sysPass to untrusted networks. Follow vendor updates for patch releases addressing this vulnerability.
