VulnerabilityCVE-2026-65709cvecve-2026-65709
Published: 07/24/2026 (07/24/2026, 15:59:26 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: nuxsmin
Product: sysPass

Description

sysPass through version 3.2.11 contains a missing object-level authorization vulnerability in the JSON-RPC API that allows API token holders to enumerate account metadata, overwrite passwords, and delete accounts across the entire vault without per-account access control. Attackers can invoke AccountController methods such as viewAction, editAction, deleteAction, and editPassAction without AccountFilterUser checks to modify or delete accounts beyond the scope of their assigned token permissions.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-65709 is a high-severity authorization bypass vulnerability affecting sysPass through version 3.2.11. The issue exists in the JSON-RPC API where API token holders can call AccountController methods (viewAction, editAction, deleteAction, editPassAction) without enforcement of AccountFilterUser checks. This missing object-level authorization enables attackers with limited token permissions to enumerate, modify, or delete accounts beyond their authorized scope within the vault.

Potential Impact

An attacker with an API token having limited privileges can escalate their access to perform unauthorized account enumeration, password overwrites, and account deletions across the entire sysPass vault. This compromises the confidentiality and integrity of stored credentials and account data, potentially leading to significant security breaches.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict API token issuance and usage to trusted parties only, and monitor for unusual API activity. Avoid exposing the JSON-RPC API to untrusted networks.
