AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-1014.14~24.04.1 and later. Users should update to these fixed versions to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation is required once the system is updated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel i2c imx driver caused the SMBus block-read operation with a byte count of 0 to lock the bus. The interrupt-driven block-read state machine rejected the zero count but failed to send a proper NACK+STOP signal, causing the bus to remain stuck until a power cycle of the i2c controller. This issue was fixed in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0 and later.
