Technical Analysis

The Frontegg SAML SSO WordPress plugin up to version 1.0.1 does not properly verify the signature or issuer of SAML authentication responses. This improper authentication (CWE-287) enables attackers without valid credentials to bypass authentication controls and gain unauthorized access to user accounts, including administrative accounts, or create new accounts arbitrarily.

Potential Impact

An attacker can bypass authentication mechanisms to impersonate any user or create new accounts without authorization. This compromises the integrity and confidentiality of the affected WordPress site, potentially allowing full administrative control to unauthorized parties.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid using affected versions or disable the plugin to prevent exploitation.
