Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in osrg GoBGP (up to version 4.3.0) involves improper handling of input data in the SRv6L3ServiceAttribute.DecodeFromBytes function within the SRv6 L3 Service component. Remote attackers can exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service condition. The vulnerability is addressed by upgrading to version 4.4.0, with the patch identified by commit f9f7b55ec258e514be0264871fa645a2c3edad11. The product is cloud-hosted, and the vendor typically applies patches server-side.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability results in denial of service, potentially disrupting network routing services provided by GoBGP. There is no indication of privilege escalation, data disclosure, or code execution. No known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available by upgrading to GoBGP version 4.4.0. Since GoBGP is offered as a cloud service, the vendor manages remediation server-side. Users should verify with the vendor that their service instance has been updated to the patched version to mitigate this vulnerability.
