AI-suggested

Users are advised to upgrade Apache Wicket to versions 9.25.0 or 10.12.0, which contain fixes for this vulnerability. As a temporary workaround, applications can refuse unauthorized access using org.apache.wicket.RestartResponseException instead of RestartResponseAtInterceptPageException, which prevents storing and resuming the original destination URL. No other mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

CVE-2026-82898 is a vulnerability in Apache Wicket affecting versions 9.1.0 through 9.24.0 and 10.0.0 through 10.11.0. It involves an incorrect order of security checks in the ResourceIsolationRequestCycleListener, which can cause unauthorized requests from other origins to bypass resource isolation policies. This occurs because the page instantiation triggers an authorization exception before the isolation policies run, preventing the policies from refusing the request. The stored original URL, including query parameters, is then used after authentication to resume the request, potentially allowing cross-origin data to be processed. The issue does not affect visitors already signed in and can be mitigated by using RestartResponseException instead of RestartResponseAtInterceptPageException to refuse unauthorized access. Versions 9.25.0 and 10.12.0 contain fixes for this issue.
