AI-suggested
Red Hat has released a security update in OpenShift Container Platform 4.20.41 that fixes this vulnerability. Users are advised to upgrade to this version or later as soon as it is available via the appropriate release channel. Instructions for upgrading clusters are provided by Red Hat. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are specified in the advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the kube-compare tool of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the operator's workstation by processing a 'container://' reference path incorrectly. Instead of safely extracting data from a stopped container, the tool executes the untrusted container image's entrypoint, which can escalate privileges if Docker daemon permissions are elevated. This flaw is addressed in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.20.41.
