A fix is available that properly allocates the asynchronous request context during cloning in the Linux kernel crypto acomp module. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this patch. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's crypto subsystem (acomp) involves improper allocation of asynchronous request context during cloning. The flaw occurs because ACOMP_REQUEST_ON_STACK() reserves storage only for synchronous fallback, but when an asynchronous implementation is selected, the clone operation copies only the smaller stack-sized object, lacking space for the async provider context. This can lead to out-of-bounds writes by providers such as QAT. The issue has been resolved by allocating a zeroed clone large enough for the runtime request size and preserving fallback behavior.
