A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel commits identified by hashes e4728288473a5024a8bdba7d43f346719606fea0, a0a8cd9fc9c48b95095bcec4b146f7a99486f58e, 7617b210a2200b76d8f171819390468c7d189c80, 54d6b0ee9b8ba434089b11843effc111dc2e6ead, 4e37371cb4e3b8ff564d7760029236a7bd614562, and 2a7a4e45a3aa4f4ef7013eb64649f6184b76a293. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version including these fixes. No additional mitigation is required as the kernel now properly validates PD capability counts and prevents out-of-bounds writes.
Description
CVE-2026-93190 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ChromeOS platform driver cros_ec_typec. It involves improper validation of USB Power Delivery (PD) capability counts, allowing out-of-bounds memory writes on the stack. The flaw occurs because the counts for source and sink PDOs can exceed the fixed array size, leading to buffer overflow. This vulnerability has been fixed by adding validation to reject counts larger than the maximum allowed. The fix is included in specific Linux kernel commits.
