A fix is available that removes the problematic locking in usbg_make_tpg() and uses lockless access to the opts->ready flag. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's usb gadget function f_tcm was fixed. The issue involved a circular lock dependency in the usbg_make_tpg() function due to holding dep_lock while calling configfs_depend_item_unlocked(), which acquires other locks leading to a deadlock. The fix removed dep_lock from usbg_make_tpg() and replaced it with lockless access to a monotonic flag using READ_ONCE/WRITE_ONCE.
