CVE-2026-97666: CWE-470 Use of Externally-Controlled Input to Select Classes or Code ("Unsafe Reflection") in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3
Description
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to supply attacker-controlled input to a Java class loading call through an ExtDirect endpoint. This allows the attacker to learn whether specific classes are present in the application. The issue does not by itself allow code execution.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-97666 is a CWE-470 vulnerability in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 that involves unsafe reflection. An unauthenticated remote attacker can provide attacker-controlled input to a Java class loading call through an ExtDirect endpoint, enabling the attacker to discover whether certain Java classes exist within the application. This information disclosure does not directly lead to remote code execution or other higher-impact consequences.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows an attacker to enumerate classes present in the Nexus Repository 3 application remotely without authentication. This information disclosure could aid in further reconnaissance but does not by itself allow code execution or direct compromise of the system.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official patch or fix links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is released, monitor vendor advisories for updates and consider restricting access to the ExtDirect endpoint if possible.
