AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to correct the skb->data restoration logic in ipv6_srh_rcv(). Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, upgrading to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the input data; therefore, check the vendor advisory for the latest remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 Segment Routing (SR) implementation was resolved. The issue involved incorrect restoration of the network header before routing and forwarding in the ipv6_srh_rcv() function, leading to negative skb_network_offset() values when certain extension headers preceded the Segment Routing Header. This caused problems in flow dissection and could trigger out-of-bounds memory operations during packet forwarding or redirection.
