AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to remediate the vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official patch or upgrading to a fixed kernel release is the recommended mitigation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rmi_smbus input driver causes an out-of-bounds read in the rmi_smb_write_block() function. The issue arises when writing SMBus blocks larger than 32 bytes, where the code incorrectly calculates the block length for chunked writes, leading to reading beyond the input buffer. This flaw has been fixed in specific Linux kernel commits.
