A fix is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit versions. Users should update to a patched kernel version containing commits 970de111c087488e53cadf5480b94e0f695db985, 4c74e233cdedd11592775fae2a6243e67ca3f891, or 3cefc1ab511fad6a0f708e7a4aee9f91346e9457. Applying these updates will resolve the null pointer dereference issue. No additional mitigation steps are required.
Description
A null pointer dereference vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's KVM arm64 nested virtualization code. The flaw occurs due to a race condition during concurrent stage 2 teardown of a nested guest, which can cause a pointer to be set to NULL and subsequently dereferenced. The issue was resolved by adding a check to ensure the pointer is non-NULL before use.
