AI-suggested

Fixed versions are available and should be applied. The vulnerability is resolved in Linux kernel versions 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.55, 6.20, and 7.0. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation is required as the patch cleanly rejects invalid protection flags without warnings.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's arm64 architecture io subsystem was fixed to prevent improper handling of non-user protection flags in ioremap_prot(). This flaw caused spurious warnings when mapping certain memory pages with PROT_NONE or execute-only protections, due to incorrect interpretation of page table entries. The fix ensures ioremap_prot() rejects protection values lacking PTE_USER without warning, preventing invalid access attempts.
