A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel versions identified by the fixed commit hashes. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

CVE-2026-98968 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMT (Automatic Multicast Tunneling) relay implementation. It occurs because a socket buffer (skb) queued in a queuing discipline (qdisc) can outlive the tunnel it references via a raw pointer, leading to a use-after-free in the amt_dev_xmit() function. The vulnerability has been fixed by changing the relay's General Query sending logic to avoid queuing the query and dereferencing the tunnel only within a safe RCU read lock section.
