Description
CVE-2026-98976 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to mount namespace locking. It involves improper transfer of the locked state when a propagated mount copy is moved beneath a locked mount, allowing a user namespace owner to replace locked mounts such as /proc or root. This can lead to unauthorized access to otherwise protected mount points and their contents.
